We are so lucky to live in a place so accepting of so many different identities. But man are those spaces few and far between.
There is so much space in between NY & LA and so so much more space beyond our country where people are hiding who they are out of fear of banishment or even death.
It’s disturbing that we live in a world where people are being murdered based on who they love or the color of their skin. Which is why we decided it was so important to capture these events on film so that we can Welcome people who may otherwise not have access to a space or community such as this one.
If you’re here or watching this and you feel alone or isolated, don’t be. Know that there is a community out there that accepts you for who you are and applauds you for however you want to express yourself.
If there’s one thing I would hope everyone gets out of coming to a Welcome event is that you left here with a new friend. So exchange info, buy someone a drink, talk to someone you may have otherwise never spoken to. Cause just because someone doesn’t present themself in the same way as you doesn’t mean you won’t find a common interest that could create a wonderful conversation or even blossom into a beautiful friendship that may help you open your eyes to seeing life from a different perspective or point of view.
